About
Argentine Tango ...
The
Argentine tango is the expression of yearning, passion and romance.
It comes from the heart. Born in the barrios of Buenos
Aires tango has spread around the world.
The Argentine tango evolved in about 1880 in the lower-class
districts of Buenos Aires, when European immigrants moved to
Argentina. The feeling
of homesickness, loss and yearning melded into the music.
Argentine tango is a living dance not formalized like
most other ballroom dances. It is festive and improvisational, within a definite
framework of simple rules of movement, body postures and emphasis on
interpreting the distinct rhythm and melody of authentic tango
music.
This is a
dance whose step patterns are secondary to the job of maintaining a
heart connection with your partner. The motto of Argentine tango is,
“Heart first, steps second! “
There is one simple rule, “Don’t do anything with your
feet or body that disturbs the precious physical, emotional, sensual
and spiritual connection with your partner.”
In Argentine tango connection is king!
It is not a
watered-down Americanized version of tango, which is done to impress
an audience. It is the real thing, the style of Argentine tango
where the aim of the dancers is to create an experience, in which
the couple feels wonderful, excited and fulfilled by the dance
